Expressing Gratitude….

On Friday the 11th of November, 2022, Royal College Union (RCU) and the Loyalty Pledge Management Committee (LPMC) along with 11 LPMC scholarship recipients felicitated Dr. Sukumar Nagendran and the present and past presidents of Royal College Old Boys East Coast Foundation (RCOBECF) at the college conference room to express their gratitude for the perpetual scholarship donations worth Rs. 10Mn granted by these gentlemen.

Dr. Sukumar (“Suku” as he is fondly called by his colleagues) was an outstanding Royalist while excelling in the academic field captained the Royal College Tennis Team during his tenure at school. Currently he is an internationally renowned Consultant specializing in Gene Therapy, Orphan Diseases, Diabetes, Metabolism, Bile Acid Physiology, HTN, Thrombosis, New Products, Oncology, Orphan Drugs, National Accounts, Healthcare policy, Diagnostics, Lab Services.

The proceedings of the meeting commenced with a welcome speech by Mr. Abhaya Amaradasa, Chairman of LPMC and past Secretary of RCU followed by Colonel Dr. Hiran Wimalaratne, Secretary of RCU addressing the gathering. LPMC scholarship recipient Dineth Dharmadasa, a grade 9 student of Royal College, then expressed his appreciation and gratitude on behalf of all LPMC scholarship recipients to Dr. Sukumar Nagendran and RCOBECF for their immense contributions this year. Dr. Sukumar Nagendran then addressed the LPMC scholarship recipients encouraging them to strive for greatness to bring glory to Royal College as well as Sri Lanka. The day’s proceedings were concluded by a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Riyaz Aluher, Assistant Principal and Senior Games Master of Royal College and the Principal of Royal College awarding the distinguished guests with LPMC plaques to mark the occasion.
