Adeepa Kularathne, entered Royal College Colombo in 2013, after he passed the grade 5 scholarship examination and he is stilling for GCE A/L Examination in 2021. He has been excelling in both academic and extra-curricular activities. He was a school level Fencer and a member of the computer society. Adeepa passed GCE Ordinary Level examination in 2018 by obtaining A passes for all subjects and chose the Mathematics stream for his GCE A/L Examination.

Adeepa is the only child in the family and his mother is the only bread winner for the family. His father is also permanently disabled following an accident that he had met in 2010. Even after a long recovery period, he has some residual neurological impairment. He still has difficulty in moving one leg and imbalance which he needs physiotherapy & unsuitable more manual work.

On 1st of February 2020, Adeepa met with an accident unfortunately whilst he was on his way home after tuition classes in Gampaha. As a result of the accident, his right leg had to be amputated. His left leg was also badly wounded and it was saved with utmost effort. But a small part of left ankle joint had to be removed as it was infected. Adeepa had to undergo a strong antibiotic course for a long time. He was discharged from the hospital after a period close to two months on 20th March 2020. However, he was readmitted to hospital in June & July again for post operational treatment. Currently, he is undergoing physiotherapy on daily basis while attending to clinics every fortnight. He can move with clutches but he uses wheelchair regularly. His restrictions in movements have compelled him to rely only on private tuition classes instead of school.

Despite all these obstacles, he is determined to sit for the GCE A/L Examination in 2021. Standing in solidarity with Adeepa, Loyalty Pledge has sponsored with Rs. 84,000 to date to cover his tuition fee and Loyalty Pledge wishes to continue this sponsorship till he sits for the GCE A/L Examination. In addition to this, he is a recipient of annual “Help a Needy Student” scholarship given by Loyalty Pledge. By being a tower of strength for Adeepa at this critical juncture of his life, Loyalty Pledge has linked him with several donors so that Adeepa would be able to have sufficient financial means to prepare himself for the GCE A/L Examination.
