Meeting Charith Kapukotuwa in California last evening was a special and inspiring moment. A proud Royalist from the Group of 2009, Charith has grown from a top school athlete into a leader at one of the world’s biggest companies. His journey is a great example for young students and sportsmen.
Charith began his schooling at Ananda College, Chilaw, and later joined Royal College, where he stood out in both academics and sports. He won many awards, including the Royal Crown in 2008 and the title of Sri Lanka Schools’ Outstanding Athlete in 2010. He also holds national records in Shot Put, Hammer Throw, and the junior record in Discus Throw.
After moving to the U.S. for higher studies, Charith continued to shine. He became an All-American at the NCAA Division II National Championships—one of the highest honors in U.S. college sports.
Academically, he earned a Law degree and an MBA, and is now completing his Doctor of Business Administration. Today, he works as the Assistant General Manager at Walmart Inc. Distribution in California.
He is so humble and with gratitude mentioned how Loyalty Pledge assisted him through out his school career and requested Royalists to contribute to Loyalty Pledge so as to help the needy and talented students.
Charith’s advice to young sportsmen is simple—balance your time. Make a schedule, stay healthy, and always stay focused. His life proves that with discipline and dedication, you can succeed in both studies and sports.
