Lasindu Methmal Makes Royal Proud!

Lasindu Methmal Gonara, an old Royalist and Volleyball colorsman was selected as the Vice-Captain of the Sri Lanka Volleyball team for the recently held qualifying rounds for the Asian Volleyball Championship 2021. At the qualification round, Sri Lanka beat Uzbekistan convincingly in a 3-0 whitewash and qualified for the Asian Volleyball Championship to be held in September 2021 in Japan.  Loyalty Pledge congratulates the Sri Lankan Volleyball team on victory and Lasindu Methmal Gonara on his achievement of becoming the Vice-Captain of the National Team of the National Game of Sri Lanka.

Lasindu Methmal had his primary education at Siri Piyarathana College in Padukka. He entered Royal College in 2008. He started his Volleyball career at Royal and later became a member of the Volleyball team of the College. He was a Volleyball coloursman at Royal College. He continued to play the National Game with great passion and pride even after leaving the school and in 2015, he was selected for the Junior National Team. He was selected for the National Squad thereafter and was a member of the National Team which won the Bronze Medal in the Asian Challenge held in Sri Lanka in 2018 with the participation of eight countries. Lasindu was a member of the Sri Lanka team that won the Bronze medal in the South Asian Games held in 2019.

Sri Lanka has a rich history of Volleyball by producing some of the best Volleyball players in Asia. Royal College, Royal College Union, and Loyalty Pledge are indeed proud of Lasindu’s achievement of becoming the Vice-Captain of the National Volleyball Team of Sri Lanka. Lasindu will be an inspiring role model for young Volleyball players at Royal and Lasindu’s achievement will be the stepping stone to produce more national players from Royal.
